HOW MANY LOVERS HAVE YOU HAD? How to answer this tricky question

TO TELL OR NOT TO TELL??  THAT IS THE QUESTION!

When it comes to the question of previous sexual partners, I personally subscribe to the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell method!!  Meaning, I don’t ask him his number, and I certainly won’t tell him mine!  This technique comes highly recommended as it is of no benefit to anyone to know that your boyfriend or girlfriend has slept with half the human population.  A person wants to feel special.  Not like they’re just another notch in the belt or dent in the wall made by that annoying lose headboard you’ve been meaning to fix.

Personally, counting your lovers, or admitting to a figure, appears gauche, shallow, and/or rude.  In any relationship it is best for you and your lover to start on a clean slate.  Any lovers either of you have had in the past are of no relevance to the future of the relationship.  Any talk of past relationships should always be kept to a bare minimum, while any talk of past sexual experiences and encounters should be completely avoided at all costs!!  It’s only going to make the other person angry, jealous, and insecure.  It may also make the other person lose trust and/or respect for you subconsciously, whether it be justified or not.

When seriously prompted for an answer to this landmine of a question by my partner, I always reply by simply stating the following: “I’m a virgin, silly.  Nothing counts before you”.
